The Process
By following the six steps below, we will be able to do our best to accommodate you and ensure that you experience the Anderson & Sheppard bespoke process.
How to begin
To book an appointment, please consult our upcoming trunk show locations and dates on our website calendar.
At the location, you will be met by our team, who will guide you through the process and answer any of your questions. We provide the same level of expertise and experience on our overseas visits that you would receive at the shop in London.
During the first meeting we will explain our house style and discuss the type of garment you would like to commission. Everything from your lifestyle requirements will be taken into consideration.

Your personal consultation
With this information, we will recommend the best cloths to suit your needs. We carry our full range of cloth options, including our own traditionally woven Scottish House tweeds and pure wool suiting.
Around 35 measurements are taken for a bespoke Anderson & Sheppard suit, ensuring an exact fit to your body shape and posture. Other garments, including coats, will vary.
At this point, we will list your style details, from lining options to lapel styles, and other requests that make the garment unique to you.

Made in London
On our return to London, we begin by hand-drafting your pattern from the measurements taken, employing the cutter’s meticulous, traditional techniques that we have used since 1906.
Ahead of our next overseas visit, you will receive our notice in the mail listing the dates and locations, and how to book your follow-up appointment. We will also send you an email once your order is ready for the first fitting, should you prefer that it is conducted in London.

The First Fitting
Your garment has now been hand-constructed and is at the half-made stage. At the first fitting our cutters will continue to refine the fit and silhouette by noting any alterations that may be required. It will then return to the shop in London to be finished.
If you find yourself in London during the time your order is ready for first fitting, you may instead choose to have your fitting in our Old Burlington Street shop.

The Second fitting
At this stage, your garment is finished and the buttons sewn on. We refer to this fitting as the “finished fitting”.
If adjustments are required at this stage, these are noted by the cutters and are carried out at the workshop in London. Depending on your schedule, we can send the garment to you when adjustments are complete. If you prefer to book another fitting, this can be arranged in the usual way: either at the shop in London or on one of our overseas visits.
Once your order is finished and the fit perfected your garment is ready. It can be shipped to you or collected from the shop in London. Due to tax and customs regulations we are not allowed to leave garments with customers on our overseas visits. All garments must return to London to be shipped or collected from the shop.

Our long-term aftercare ensures alterations and repairs, meaning that you experience the same time-honoured service synonymous with Anderson & Sheppard’s bespoke process.
