How long have you been open?

We opened on the 15th October 2012.

Why did Anderson & Sheppard open the haberdashery?

We used to carry a selection of accessories in the 30 Savile Row shop but could not take them to Old Burlington Street due to lack of space.  Colin and James in the bespoke shop are often asked where to find specialist knitwear and accessories and when the lease came up on 17 Clifford Street, we felt that it was an opportunity not to be missed.  Choosing a bespoke suit, coat or jacket is a serious business requiring quiet and concentration.  The haberdashery in Clifford Street has a more relaxed atmosphere, which invites existing and new customers to browse and enjoy our selection.

Do you sell ready to wear suits of jackets?
No.  The haberdashery sells trousers, knitwear, shirts and accessories.  Suits and jackets that we display are used to show off our accessories and to inspire our customers. They have all been made at the bespoke shop in Old Burlington Street, which is only around the corner.

What trousers do you sell?

The bespoke trouser cutters at the Old Burlington Street shop developed 11 trouser blocks specifically for The haberdashery.  Several styles have already arrived and the remaining styles will come in months to come.  Trousers are made in a huge variety of British cloths that we have selected from the bespoke shop including winter cottons, corduroys, moleskins, flannels, worsted woolens and other blends.

What sizes do your trousers come in?
The waist size starts at 28 inches and goes up to 50 inches. Customers can order specific combinations of trouser style and cloth in any size for a small extra cost.

Where does everything come from?
Wherever possible, we have sourced in the British Isles.   As we focus on quality first, some things come from Italy, Iceland or India when we find specialist manufacturers that we want to work with.  We like to visit our suppliers to better understand what they do and what is possible.

Who is your designer?

As in our bespoke shop, our customer is a source of inspiration and we listen to what they like or need.  The haberdashery does not have a resident designer but we work with our customers and use our experience to offer timeless things that compliment our tailoring.

What is the wonderful smell in the shop?
Café Society candles created by Carlos Benaim for Editions De Parfums Frederic Malle.
