Clifford Street is open

By Emily on 5th November, 2012

It’s been an exciting few weeks, with the Clifford Street shop opening at last. We’ve been pleasantly surprised by how busy the street is and by the reaction to the window displays. When we first opened, we put a colourful row of bespoke pieces made for the shop by Old Burlington Street in the window. Then we dressed it with five fisherman-style heavy knit sweaters accessorised with bright cashmere scarves and umbrellas in spice colours.

The scarves proved very popular and a few of the colours have already sold out. Also popular have been the silk-wool mix handkerchiefs and the coloured cotton handkerchiefs at pocket-money prices that would make great stocking fillers.

A few people have commented on the atmosphere created by our Coffee Society Frederic Malle candles. They are not available to buy in the shop yet, but they will be by Christmas. More importantly, our first trousers will be in this week. Style Number 1 will be available in a wide selection of colours and cloths. We expect to receive the other nine styles over the next two months. I know a few customers who will be very excited when everything arrives.

Overall, the reaction from customers has been very enthusiastic, which is the most important thing. They like the fact that we do not offer any tailored clothing – that remains the preserve of Old Burlington Street. They appreciate our expertise in trousers and the work that went in to the development of the Clifford Street trouser styles. Audie’s experience provides a great foundation for the rest of the collection.

We hope that the images here give an idea of the shop to customers who are not in London or who have not had a chance to come in yet. We are still expecting many exciting deliveries and will update The Notebook soon.
