Leon and I recently returned from Anderson & Sheppard’s first Hong Kong visit. We flew out of London on Monday and arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday afternoon, despite the jet lag we were instantly invigorated by the cities energy and scale. Our first destination was the Mandarin Oriental Hotel; we had shipped over the trunks containing all we needed a few days before we left. Leon and I spent the evening arranging our existing customer’s fittings and setting up the travel sets and samples in the suite. With every trip we make sure we have everything organised for the next working day.
On Wednesday we welcomed a number of our existing customers, some came to order and others had arrived for fittings. Our customers told us of how much they appreciated the visit as many of them could not make it to London as often as they would like to. They were all extremely friendly and many gave us good tips on places to visit and dine whilst we were there.
After all our appointments were complete we had to get everything packed up and ready to move to Attire House the next day; Attire House is a men’s outfitter in Hong Kong who we have a partnership with. On arrival we were both very impressed with the space, having heard a lot about Attire House it was great to finally see it. As well as the retail space they also have a barbershop and cocktail bar under the same roof.
The team had kindly prepared the section that is reserved for trunk shows and bespoke visits for us to set up in. The day consisted of meeting new customers who were all very excited and interested in going through the bespoke process. Attire House also hosted their launch party that evening so Leon and I had brought over a length of cloth and our tools and put on a demonstration throughout the evening. The guests received a better understating of how things worked in the cutting room at Old Burlington Street; we displayed how we take the measurements of an individual customer and how we cut the cloth.
We were at Attire House on the Friday and Saturday meeting new clients then we packed up on the Saturday night and flew out on Sunday. All in all, it was a jam packed visit but a very successful one. I would like to thank Roger Chan, Brandon Chau and the team at Attire House for being so welcoming; we look forward to our next visit to the city later next year.
