When the jackets come back from the fitting, it is our job as the coat makers to give shape to the fronts.
The tools used for this job and in general on any stage of the making process should be chosen wisely.The correct tools ensures that you do not handle the material more than you need to. its especially important if the fabric is delicate or frays easily.
I use these two shaping tools for the front.
Chalks should be brand new and sharpened for marking the front edge to make a clear cut.
Once the fabric has been cut on one side, it should be placed on top of the opposite front panel and marked accurately. Pockets, seams and mark stitches are all useful to pinpoint exactly where the the opposite side should be cut.
